The impressive view that the ancient capital of Moab had of the surrounding landscape. Elimelech and his family may well have settled in the environs of this site. Because the name “Mizpah” means “view,” some have speculated that this was another name for the site. Ruth’s great-grandson David later brought his parents to Mizpah for safety during the time when King Saul was seeking to kill him (1 Sam 22:3). It is possible that David chose Mizpah because family from Ruth’s side lived here.
This village in Moab looks like one that could have existed in biblical times.
